Félicitations à l’école Henri-Bergeron qui est à travers le Canada à recevoir la subvention du Fonds pour la littératie en 2025! Every year the receives hundreds of submissions from schools across Canada. Over the next three years, École Henri-Bergeron will receive $25,000 to update our bilingual library collection, diversify classroom libraries, and support literacy initiatives within our community. This grant will be especially beneficial this fall, as our school community recently learned that due to changing populations and shifts in the school catchment areas, we will be gaining approximately 80 more students in grades 7 & 8 in September.

As part of the grant application process, École Henri-Bergeron submitted a three-year project proposal entitled Raconte-moi une Histoire (Tell Me a Story): Challenging Assumptions, Nurturing Communities and Building Relationships through Intergenerational Storytelling. The more we embrace and invest in our intergenerational reading theme, the more we learn from each other. Older generations can share stories and traditions, and younger readers can introduce new perspectives and ideas. Communities reading together enhances relationships between the generations.

Our literacy project complements and responds to the goals outlined in the École Henri-Bergeron Plan Stratégique Pluriannuel (PSPA), the strategic actions of 91̽»¨app (91̽»¨app MYSP), and the objectives of the Indigo LOR Literacy Fund Grant. The literacy project promotes the benefits of Intergenerational reading to support positive impacts on mental health, to encourage a sense of belonging, and to benefit second language learning acquisition.

Merci, mille fois merci, à la Fondation Indigo pour l’amour de la lecture! Thank you so much for providing such generous support to École Henri-Bergeron as a 2025 Literacy Grant recipient.
